State Wide Real Estate is looking for franchisees in Michigan.
State Wide Real Estate of Houghton (SWOH) is a Michigan real estate firm that works with property owners and buyers to sell and buy property in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Based in downtown Houghton, the firm’s dozen licensed brokers/agents focus on property in the four county area of Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon. Beyond these four snow country counties, the State Wide also has numerous vacant land listings in Iron County. Our office is a member of the Keweenaw Multiple Listing Service, which plugs us into the property listings of another 75 Realtors. Our firm’s agents take pride in listening to it’s customers and then providing the services that the customer wants. In short, we exist to make our customer’s lives easier.
State Wide of Houghton’s agents use all of the latest tools available to them to maximize the sale or purchase of any property. Examples are extensive use of the Internet and online databases to search for the properties that best match a customer’s desires. We also use technology like online mapping software and GPS units to better identify property for a customer. We can also send you an aerial photo of a property, or a property’s topographic map so you can really see the elevation changes on a property. And, once we start working on the paperwork associated with selling or buying a property, we employ data exchanging with the customer and pass electronic signatures back and forth to get deals done faster for our customers.
Our office is on the corner of Shelden Avenue (US-41) and Huron Streets, in downtown Houghton. The building is three-stories of limestone and rock construction that started life in the 1870s as a liquor store. Through it’s life it has housed a liquor store, shoe factory, several grocery stores, a financial planner, a law firm, a CPA firm, a contractor, and the real estate office and three apartments it is now. The building recovered from a couple serious fires in it’s long history, the largest of which removed the top 10 feet of the building permanently. It was extensively remodeled and returned to it’s more original roots in 2015. This included the manufacture of a replacement 16 foot tall sign to restore the original signage on the building from the 1870s. The all glass main floor street front invites customers in to sit and talk about real estate at all hours of the day. If a customer needs a computer to check email or a fax to send a document, you are welcomed into the office to share our technology. Our just stop in for a hot cup of coffee to rest and chat.
The agents of SWOH represent very diverse backgrounds. This diversity helps our team better represent customers and cover more aspects of our local community. Examples of our team experiences include building residential and commercial construction, piloting airplanes, skiing both alpine and Nordic, hiking and snow shoeing the back country, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, bird watching, as well as a variety of work related experience. All of this diversity helps us better represent, explain and show the beauty of the Keweenaw to customers.
