About Us - What Do We Do?

Transition Squad® is a project manager. We help clients downsize (typically seniors, their executors and empty nesters) and help find a good home for their household belongings. We offer a menu of downsizing services and package them based on each client's individual needs, however our core speciality is to help clients' sell their belongings through our own online auction platform, estate sales and our Consignment Auction House. If clients only have a few things, cannot do an auction from their premises or would prefer to pay reduced fees, they are welcome to use our Free Online Classifieds, our Consignment Auction House or upgrade to our Do-It-Yourself Online Auction solution.

Every transition has unique needs. We are experts in managing those needs and taking care of all the details. For many families, a parent transition can be an overwhelming, emotionally draining and physically challenging ordeal. We take a compassionate and practical approach to this difficult process.

Our mission is three-fold:

  1. To take away the burden of the downsizing process so clients can focus on what matters
  2. To find a good home for their belongings
  3. To maximize the equity in their contents back to them or their estate.

To achieve this mission we have created a program that provides a turnkey service so one call does it all. All Transition Squad® services are fully insured. We guarantee our services with the utmost of pride to make their lives easier and ensure that their transition takes place smoothly and efficiently.

The Opportunity

With the ongoing aging demographics of parents and busy lifestyles of caregivers and kids, the senior downsizing industry is the niche to be in for the next several decades. Further, the second hand market is already huge and continues to grow exponentially. Not only do our offerings help people part with their precious belongings but also help the environment by finding a new home for people's treasures instead of filling up the landfills.

Franchise Transition Squad®

Our company offers two different franchise systems under one umbrella of Transition Squad.

  1. Downsizing Services (Mobile) Franchise – you will work from a home based office and be the project manager. You will go to clients’ homes with your teams and set up all the contents for an online auction, photograph their items, create descriptions, set minimum bid prices and manage the pickup. For clients that want to save commission, you can also train them to do their own auctions using our Do It Yourself tier. Head Office will conduct the auction, the marketing, and collect payment from the winners. We will help you with marketing and lead generation for your business in your territory however you will be responsible for networking and business development. We have simplified that process with automated tools for lead generation.
  2. Consignment Auction House Franchise – you will operate your business from your own warehouse. Consigned items from those that don't have enough for their own auction or where an auction would not be permitted (eg: a condominium), or items that you buy and resell would come to the auction house where the photography, description and pricing and pickup would be done. Head Office will conduct the auction, the marketing, and collect payment from the winners. We will help you with marketing and lead generation for your business in your territory. There are no geographic boundaries for where you purchase items for resale.

Both systems are low cost and offer a Try Before You Buy training bootcamp to learn all aspects of the business and determine whether we are good fit for each other. Because of the additional overhead and commitment of leasing a commercial warehouse, the Consignment Auction House Franchise also offers a graduated structure of royalties and other fees to help you get established and build your client base.

Partner Requirements

For our (mobile) Downsizing Services Franchise offering, we're looking for people who are strong at business development and networking but also organized and good at project management while being able to build rapport with seniors and their families. This is not just stuff you will be dealing with, this is their life and clients want to know that the people they hire to help them at this emotional, traumatic time in their life will have as much respect and care for their belongings as they would have for their own. You have to be strong at making connections with touchpoints who can refer you to their clients.

Our Consignment Auction House Franchise offering is very physical so good health and strength are essential. Items large and small come into your warehouse for resale where they will be photographed and researched to create descriptions and set minimum starting bids. You may optionally decide to pick items up or deliver them for additional revenue opportunities. Inventory management is key to ensure you track the items coming and going so seller clients receive the proper amounts. Our tools and process make it much simpler, however you still need to be on top of it.

Both offerings require 150% commitment but one should expect no less when starting and building their own business. You will be quite active with either franchise offering so be prepared to give up your gym membership.
