Our Culture

Quality : At Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® the quality of our food is essential. We use only the best ingredients available and Bar-B-Q is made fresh daily at each location. Fresh pork shoulders are cooked slowly overnight to make the freshest and best tasting Bar-B-Q. Bar-B-Q is made fresh daily at each location. We use sales increases as a measure of our customer’s satisfaction. Customers returning and new customers are the true measure of the quality of food being served.

Service : We believe reliability, responsiveness, courteousness, and competence are key elements in the Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® concept. Hard work with flexibility and enthusiasm leads to success. Co-workers appropriately target and adapt their work to the particular circumstance and customer. We are principle centered men and women of integrity who cultivate an abundance mind-set in others. Our principle of customer satisfaction, quality and abundance mind-set creates unlimited opportunity

Franchise Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q

Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® restaurants represent the best in fast casual dining, great tasting food, fast service, and fantastic hospitality. The anchor to our menu is the best pork barbecue and fried chicken. Our chicken is fresh, not frozen, and we utilize only fresh pork shoulders in our Bar-B-Q. The shoulders are slowly cooked every night at each location and then prepared to ensure our customers the best taste and quality. We complement the Bar-B-Q and crispy chicken with a variety of side dishes. These include cole slaw, potato salad, brunswick stew, baked beans, fries, and hushpuppies.

Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® focuses on the quality of food, speed of service, and hospitality. The Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® dining concept is “Fast Casual”, combining fast food with table service. This variation of counter service delivers great hospitality without intensive personnel requirements. Guests order at the counter, then are invited to be seated in our dining room. Co-workers rush the orders to the table. This system allows us to deliver a high level of service capable of meeting our customer’s expectations and needs efficiently.

The sales mix varies with location. The Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® concept proves successful in all settings; rural, metropolitan, and along interstate highways. We offer our customers the convenience of drive thru, dining in, or take-out service. We believe that sales increases indicate “customer approval”. All restaurants are expected to sustain and increase customer count.

We believe in people that have a strong desire to succeed. Our co-workers are provided with the environment and freedom to take charge and succeed in pleasing the customers. We strive for a workplace full of co-workers who are empowered, self-sufficient, highly motivated, and share our abundance mentality. We recognize that Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® will only go as far as our customers take us. We believe in continuous learning, improving, and progression. All restaurants are expected to sustain and increase customers.

Franchise Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q

These are the steps you will need to take to own your Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® or SCNB® franchise

This process could change at our discretion without notice.

1. Request Info and Apply for a Franchise

2. Application Review and Phone Interview

After we receive the completed application, our franchise development representative will contact you by phone to discuss preliminary questions and review the feasibility of a long-term business partnership. A personal meeting may be scheduled at this time.

3. First Personal Meeting, Receive Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)

Prior to this meeting we will complete background and credit checks to verify all submitted information on your application. At this meeting, you will learn about our franchise program and the support we offer (such as site selection assistance, training, marketing, etc.). We will discuss your responsibilities to the franchise system and your personal qualifications and business objectives. You will also be invited to contact any of our current franchisees to learn more about owning and operating a franchise.

In addition, you will receive Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). The FDD is a disclosure document describing important franchise information and the franchise agreement. Take some time to thoroughly review the FDD. We recommend you consult with an attorney or business advisor.

4. Preliminary Agreement

After you review the FDD, had the opportunity to discuss our system with existing franchisees, and you wish to move ahead, you will be asked to participate in a Working Interview, which is conducted over several days. You will first sign a Preliminary Agreement and pay a $10,000 deposit. The $10,000 deposit will be applied towards your initial franchise fee if a franchise agreement is signed. The Working Interview is scheduled at one of our company-owned restaurants in North Carolina. The purpose of Working Interview is to provide our applicants with hands-on experience and to evaluate all the resources that we have to offer. These days are an excellent opportunity for you to review our operation first-hand.

 5. Enter into a Franchise Agreement

Once a site is selected, the terms have been negotiated, and all appropriate paperwork has been submitted, you will then enter into a Franchise Agreement and pay the $50,000 franchise fee. It is only after you have signed a Franchise Agreement that you become a Franchisee.

6. Training

You and/or your operating partner are scheduled to attend our 28-day training program, which involves intermittent classroom and on-the-job training at our Support Center and a company-owned store.

7. Complete Construction and Open for Business

After successfully completing your training, you will begin working directly with your franchise business partner on the final countdown to opening your restaurant.
