Who Says You Can't Mix Business With "New Orleans Style" Pleasure!

Born from a passion and love for our Louisiana culture, we have been serving up our unique "New Orleans Style" spin on great barbeque since we first opened our doors on Mardi Gras Day in 2002. VooDoo BBQ, like its home city, is a blend of influences, tastes, spices and attitudes that combine to create something unique. It's a cuisine that respects established culinary traditions — Southern, Caribbean, Creole, Cajun, French — but combines them in fresh ways to serve up something new.

After nearly a decade of proving ourselves in the ultra-competitive food arena of south Louisiana, we are now expanding to embrace and bring our unique approach to barbeque to new markets all across the country. VooDoo BBQ is a business that's positioning itself at the crest of some of the hottest trends in the restaurant industry: the lean toward "comfort food" and colorful, ethnic cuisine; the emergence of the "fast-casual" restaurant, the fastest-growing segment in the industry; the thriving franchise industry; and the evergreen popularity of the cuisine of New Orleans, one of the world's great food cities. "Come Experience the Magic" and share in our passion for great food, friendly service and inviting atmosphere!

Competition Style

At VooDoo, we take pride in serving our beef, chicken and pork barbecue competition-style, which means it's perfectly seasoned and smoked and served as is, and we allow our guests to add sauce to taste. It all starts with our preferred slow-smoking process. Our premium quality Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Louisiana Cajun Sausage, Chicken, and Ribs are blended with Cajun, Creole and Caribbean spices to create our magical flavor and smoked over Louisiana Pecan and Oak woods for up to 18 hours.

The Food

"To Sauce or Not To Sauce"

All too often it seems to have become standard practice for barbeque joints to drown their meets in sauce. We believe sauce should BRING OUT - NOT COVER UP - the natural flavor of meat which is why we allow our guests to choose. Our guests have the option to choose from our three signature sauces which represent different geographical preferences.

  • Mojo - A Southwest style sauce, perfect for red meats
  • Cane Vinegar - A Virginia/Carolina style sauce, perfect for light meats, such as pulled pork and chicken
  • Crystal Mango - A Creole/Caribbean style sauce, with a touch of "heat" from infused peppers and spices

More Than Just Excellent Barbeque

There's much more to VooDoo BBQ than just the meat. Some barbecue places serve great meat but skimp on the side dishes. For us, the sides are just as important as the barbecue, which is why we've developed side dishes you won't find anywhere else. Take our Gris Gris Greens, simmered until tender (but not mushy!) and seasoned with lean pork. Or our corn pudding, crisp kernels in sweet cornmeal. Or our sweet potato soufflé, which defies description. Or even our potato salad, made with sour cream, chives and bacon bits to create a baked potato in a bowl. (Traditionalists needn't fret. We've got excellent fries, cole slaw and macaroni & cheese, too.)

And we don't aim for just the crowd that craves barbecue, either — we serve great po-boy sandwiches, hamburgers, seafood dishes, salads and starter items like gumbo, too, which means VooDoo BBQ is a perfect choice for the entire family looking for a great-tasting, affordable meal served quickly.

VooDoo BBQ & Grill - A Dining Experience

The food is only part of the VooDoo recipe. We want to give diners an experience, a combination of food, sound and ambience that amounts to a 30-to-45 minute New Orleans vacation. We make our stores bright, clean and inviting, with French Quarter interior design touches and Louisiana music — zydeco, jazz, R&B — playing over the PA system. We're not aiming for the traditional "Bubba's BBQ Shack" vibe; we want a fresh space that's comfortable for everyone.

Testimonials

Dinners

I was in Kenner La. on business and had dinner at VooDoo BBQ twice. It's next to the Holiday Inn Express and is within walking distance. I was really pleased with my meals and will definitely return on my next visit to the area. The BBQ nachos are really good topped off with cheesecake!!! It was delicious!!! The next day I had Cajun sausage and Caribbean jerk chicken with mustard greens, fries and cornbread. This meal was excellent with no room left for desert after that meal. I highly recommend... this if you're looking for great food and friendly staff. Show all

New Orleans vibes!!

I stayed at the hotel where VooDoo was attached to and decided to try it out during our stay. As soon as you enter there is this New Orleans vibe from the music to the smell it was nice. The service was quick and friendly and our food was great. The loaded baked potato was so good plus you get to add whatever meat you would like to it (jerk chicken, turkey, etc..). If you happen to pass a VooDoo while in LA stop buy its worth it.

BBQ at it's Finest... Plus all the Fixins!

We go to the Voodoo on Airline Drive in St. Rose, LA often as it's close to home, and although we've had the occasional glitch, they have always made it right. However, they have opened/are opening several more franchises in and around New Orleans that are more of a fast food model. Portions are smaller and they are self-serve, where you order at the counter, but your order is brought out to you. We don't like these nearly as well as the full-service one near us, even though the food quality is ...still good. We love good BBQ, and this is among the best around. (And the Corn Pudding is to die for!) They have a very diverse menu, but we're stuck on the Pulled Pork Platter, which never disappoints! Show all

Great Atmosphere, Food and Service

Rarely do I write a review on a restaurant unless I've visited it more than once, but since I'm not sure when I'll be back in this area as I was only overnighting at the Holiday Inn next door, I wanted to reveal my experience with the VooDoo—it was great! As a disclaimer, even though there were open tables, I chose, since I was alone, to dine at the bar. The bartender was polite, friendly, and always checking if I needed anything. The atmosphere in general was great too. The food was great too a...nd I'm sure if I'm ever back in the area, I'll visit again! Show all

Cool Environment and Big Portions

I was next door at the Holiday Inn and walked over for a fast drink and salad.

The staff was courteous and efficient. I had the chicken BBQ Bayou salad. It was a very large portion. They weight the meat to make sure you are getting the right portion size. It was tasty and well seasoned.

Good experience I would eat here again if in the area.
